The paradox of simultaneous construction & destruction

It is often the simple things & ideas in day to day lives that get our mind thinking. This idea presented an opportunity to stand & look back to what we have done and where we are heading. The title is self-explanatory to each one of us.

Let me get everybody up and running with the help of some of my thoughts on this topic. Science & Technology has been a blessing for us, giving us things that were considered hopeless dreams only few decades back. I mean we look around us and get mesmerised by the sheer magnitude of comforts & unimaginable stuff science has doled out to us. Technology has been the wheel which has driven the chariot of human advancement to a whole new level.

But, who am I kidding? These are all the things we know, right? What we don’t know, or to put it this way, what we have strategically ignored is that where this advancement has brought us to? I mean we see these amazing automobiles coming up which have increased our comfort of travel, but then we are forced to inhale the poisonous exhaust fumes. In some countries, farmers are growing grains for feeding hungry cars with gasohol, while at many places, people are dying of starvation. No kidding, this is what we have come to terms with. The advancement is a measure of the number of hospitals in a city, ignoring the fact that this is only an indication of degradation of health of humanity at large. With each vaccines & drugs developed, some entirely new disease comes up. And many of these are modern lifestyle diseases which have become chronic.

Technology has brought the world to a higher level of sense enjoyment, but it has also brought the world closer to nuclear disasters, both intentional & accidental. Let’s face it, we all are sitting on the brink of disaster, praying that no fool comes up anywhere in the world to trigger the nuclear war. But to make matters worse, we know there are no dearth of such leaders in the world!

Technology is great, it’s a boon, but shouldn't we use it carefully enough so as not to eliminate the very purpose for which it was started?

This was just a head start to a vast array of things which one can come up. There may be ideas that one doesn't like, but we are here to share our thoughts & opinions to present a better tomorrow. If anybody has different ideas, I am open to criticism and would love to know your thoughts.
